Come one, come all… and tell your friends! The Chicago Blues Challenge Finals comes to an exciting conclusion at Buddy Guy’s Legends, on Sunday, November 7th. Music starts at 7:00pm. The Finals will feature first and second place winners from the band competitions: Charlie Love, Rob Blaine & Big Otis Blues, Chainsaw Dupont,and Doug James & the Pocket. They will be pitted against “Wild Card” competitors Charles “Delta Blues Hog” Hayes and J.B. Ritchie. With six great blues bands and only one winner, this will be an explosive night of Chicago Blues.
We will also showcase our Youth Competition winners Jemiah “On Fire” & the Red Machine and our Solo/Duo winners Donna Herula & John Jochem.
It is sure to be a great night of blues, as our final six bands will be putting their best foot forward in order to impress the judges and win over new fans. Please come to support the Windy City Blues Society, as we raise money to send the final winning band down to Memphis in February for the 2011 International Blues Challenge! Only $15 at the door will get you great sets from eight great performers! So get a baby sitter, set the DVR, and get out Sunday, November 7th for a night of great Chicago Blues.

Congratulations to Rob Blaine’s Big Otis Blues, who took first place at the Heartland Cafe in Round 3 of the Chicago Blues Challenge. 2nd place went to Doug James & the Pocket.
Also, youth entry Jemiah “On Fire” & The Red Machine took 1st in the youth division! They’ll all be at the finals at Buddy Guy’s Legends on Nov… 7th… Thanks to all the great performers who came out and participated!

The Chicago Blues Challenge will return to the Heartland Café, 7000 N Glenwood Avenue, this coming Sunday, October 24, for the third round of this year’s highly-anticipated series of shows. Music starts at 7:00pm. The Band Competition will feature Charles “Delta Blues Hog” Hayes, Rob Blaine, Rick Simcox & the ToneQuesters, and Doug James & the Pocket. The Youth Competition will pit Jemiah “On Fire” & the Red Machine versus the Hix Brothers All-Stars.
Contrary to what you may have heard, the Heartland Café is open for business. Come early for dinner and stay for the music- The Heartland Café has one of the best menus on the North Side.

Congratulations to Charlie Love, who came in first in Round 2 of the 2010 Chicago Blues Challenge. Chainsaw Dupont placed second! Both move on to the CBC finals at Buddy Guy’s Legends on Sunday, November 7. Don’t miss it… mark your calendars!

The bands that performed on October 14th included two acts which participated in the Challenge last year, Charlie Love and Chainsaw Dupont, as well as newcomers to the CBC, J.B. Ritchie, Harry Garner and Dawn O’Keefe Williams.
In the words of radio DJ Paul Parello, “Congratulations to Charlie Love and Chainsaw Dupont who will be moving on in the WCBS 2010 Blues Challenge competition. Also congratulations to the other performers, J.B. Ritchie who proved once again that he is one of the finest guitar players in Chicago, Harry Garner who can put it down, and Dawn O’Keefe Williams and her band for a great set… Great night of blues!”
