A Tribute to the 40th Anniversary Concert Tour of Joe Cocker & the Mad Dogs & Englishmen will benefit the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (formerly the American Lung Association). The show will venture to recreate (on a lesser scale) the legendary concert that took place at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East on March 28, 1970 starring Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, the Space Choir and over 40 band members. Big-voiced singer Pat Smillie will portray Cocker. The band includes keyboardists Daryl Coutts and Doug James, the Chicago Catz horn section, drummer Twist Turner, percussionist/drummer Ron Schur, bassist/vocalist Rick Demski, and lead guitarist/vocalist Tom Crivellone. The backup singers are Bonnie Brenner, Jennifer Crivellone and Nicki James. The show will be emceed by WDRV radio morning host Steve Downes.
Concert goers are encouraged to dress in 1970s attire. There will be a light show, vintage film clips and music from the era. Tickets are $30 and are available online at www.wilmettetheatre.com or by calling the box office at 847-251-7424.
Thanks to Pat Smillie as well as the “Chicago Blues Guide” for advising of this event.
