Bring Your Own Grill

Family  fun and a Fathers Day celebration.  bring your grill and your beverages, or just have a picnic and listen to some great soul and blues music.

This is a chance to celebrate the many great families in Maywood, come out with your neighbors and celebrate Fathers Day together as a community.

Fathers first this weekend,  there may even b e a car show.  Eat, Drink, dance and relax to some funky live Soul & Blues music.

About The Line-up

Overview

We are still in the early planning stages.  We are tentatively having live music from 1 pm to 9 or 10 pm.  Likely 7 different acts.  WE have acts chosen but have to confirm availability.

One of the hardest working bands in Chicago. The Mike Wheeler Band consists of : 


Mike Wheeler- Guitar & Vocals

Doc Payne and The Payne Relief Smooth Blues Band

 Doctor Odie Payne III, a retired Obstetrician and Gynecologist, CEO of OPJ records LLC, and Bandleader of the Doc. Payne and the Payne Relief Smooth Blues band was recently nominated for the prestigious Chicago Music Award in the category of most outstanding showband /group. The band is an ensemble of professional musicians and entertainers with over 40 years of combined musical and recording experience having played and or opened for such popular groups as the Chi lites, B.B. King, Gene Chandler, Billy branch, Otis Clay, Tyrone Davis, Gladys Knight, Buddy Guy, and many others.

 Eyes on Larry Williams and his amazing bass work in this piece, 'That's What Love Will Make You Do', from the Mike Wheeler Band CD (2007). A Stunning set of fine Chicago blues and good vibes from Mike Wheeler and band, when they performed at the Gouden Leeuw (Golden Lion) venue, in Dongen, The Netherlands, on Sunday December 6th, 2016. Check out Mike's current CD, 'Self Made Man' on Delmark. The gig was hosted by the long established 'Blues Promotion Dongen', now entering it's 28th season, bringing together a community of friendly, blues loving people.    Featuring: Mike Wheeler – guitar, vocals Larry Williams – bass Cleo Cole – drums Brian James – keyboard
